GREAT NECK, NY  First Quality Enterprises LLC has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Henkel’s Retailer Brands business in North America.

The deal enhances First Quality’s existing store brand product portfolio by adding products in the detergents, fabric finishers, and dishwasher categories. Additionally, it will result in the creation of a new division, called First Quality Home Care Products, that will operate as a stand-alone business within the First Quality Group of companies.

“This is an exciting time at First Quality," said First Quality chief financial officer Jim Dodge. "Adding detergents, fabric finishers and dishwash categories to our existing portfolio will enable us to offer a greater array of products to our customers and provide them with additional synergies, benefits and innovation. We look forward to partnering with our customers in providing the same high-quality products and services in this category as they have come to expect from First Quality in our existing portfolio. We also look forward to welcoming the dedicated team at Henkel to the First Quality Group and to growing the First Quality Home Care Products division with them.”

The acquisition reflects First Quality’s ongoing commitment to reinvestment in response to growing customer demand for affordable, high-quality store-brand products, the company said. Last year, First Quality announced investments across several of its existing product categories, including over $400 million in its baby care division. The company also invested in expanding its adult incontinence manufacturing capacity by over 25%. First Quality also announced its commitment to two additional advanced Thru-Air-Dried (TAD) paper machines at a new location to be announced.

The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including receipt of required regulatory approvals.
