ARLINGTON, Va. – In observance of Heart Health Month, the National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) is highlighting the critical role pharmacies play in combating heart disease, the leading cause of death in the United States.
NACDS's Nourish My Health campaign highlights the contributions of member pharmacies that offer heart health services at over 25,000 locations nationwide. Heart disease accounts for one in five deaths annually, with around 700,000 fatalities each year.
The Healthy Heart Month initiative highlights pharmacies' crucial role in promoting wellness this February. It encourages public engagement on Facebook, LinkedIn, and X (formerly Twitter) with the hashtag #NourishMyHealth.

“We are pleased to recognize the important role that pharmacy teams play in supporting heart health,” said NACDS President and CEO Steven C. Anderson. “With a focus on trust and convenience, pharmacies are uniquely positioned to deliver comprehensive care and to emphasize the role that nutrition plays in preventing and managing heart disease.”
Launched in 2023, Nourish My Health collaborates with national health organizations to end hunger, improve nutrition, and reduce disease. The campaign promotes health screenings to identify risks, offers food guides and nutrition info, provides resources for healthcare professionals, and conducts a nutrition security survey to improve access to nutritious food.
This initiative builds on NACDS’ efforts to support public health. In January, the association promoted Health Starts Here, highlighting pharmacies’ commitment to individual health journeys. NACDS also created digital content for observances like Diabetes Month, National Immunization Awareness Month, Men’s Health Month, and Women’s Health Month.
NACDS member pharmacies are partnering with national health organizations through Nourish My Health at select locations. They host wellness events, immunization clinics, and campaigns to educate communities about heart health and preventive care.
During Heart Health Month, NACDS highlights accessible community healthcare solutions for the nation’s leading cause of death: heart disease. Initiatives like Nourish My Health show how pharmacies are vital partners in combating heart disease and promoting overall wellness.
